Pari hatched in 2018 at Wingspan in Rotorua to parents Aroha and Hamden.

He arrived at the Kārearea Falcon Trust in December 2018 alongside a male sibling. His brother was later released at Yealands Vineyards to help strengthen the local wild kārearea population.

Because many of the females in our care have permanent injuries that prevent them from being released, healthy males like Pari play an important role in our conservation breeding programme. They provide valuable genetic diversity and can be paired with resident females to produce chicks for release into the wild.

Pari was paired with resident female Jenny in 2019, and together they successfully bred chicks for release into the wild. Following Jenny's successful hernia surgery in 2026, the pair were temporarily separated to allow her time to recover. Pari is now being prepared for introduction to resident female Kōwhai ahead of our 2026/2027 breeding season.
