Adopt a Falcon
Support the restoration of New Zealand’s incredible kārearea by adopting one of the resident falcons in our care at the Kārearea Falcon Trust. Your donation helps provide the care and support they need while contributing to the future of this threatened species.
How It Works
Choose a Falcon: Visit our Fundraising Shop to see which falcons are available, choose your adoption level (Platinum, Gold, Silver,Bronze) and complete your purchase.
12-Month Adoption: Your adoption is valid for one full year.
First Right of Renewal: Renew your adoption before it expires to continue supporting your falcon before the adoption becomes available to the public.
Flexible Tiers: Choose from multiple adoption levels to suit your budget.
Where Your Money Goes
Adoption proceeds help fund the daily care and conservation of our resident falcons at the centre, including food, veterinary care, breeding programmes, and enclosure maintenance.

Missed Out?
Our adoptions can fly off the shelf! Each falcon has just one adoption available at each level, so popular falcons can be snapped up quickly. Email Office@kareareafalcon.org to join the AAF Waitlist, and we’ll let you know if your favourite falcon becomes available again.
Adoption is symbolic and confers no legal ownership. All falcons at the Kārearea Falcon Trust are held under licence from the Department of Conservation (DOC).
The Adopt a Falcon donation programme was revised in August 2026 and is effective for all adoptions from this time.

Standard renewal years are focused on continuing your support through a donation towards the care of the falcons in our care and the mahi we do. These benefits apply to every renewal year that is not a Milestone Renewal.
Your digital renewal pack will contain:

A digital adoption certificate showing your number of years of support
Biography of the falcon
Digital badge for your use
We’ll celebrate your ongoing support by featuring your logo on your adopted falcon’s webpage, in a social media post, and on their aviary door, along with the number of years you have supported the Trust.

Reaching a milestone is something worth celebrating! At 3, 5 and 10 years of support, you’ll receive a special milestone package, thoughtfully put together by our team and posted directly to you (or available for collection in person).
Each package is designed to recognise and celebrate your years of supporting your adopted falcon and may include a selection of gifts, experiences and special keepsakes. Package contents may change over time.

Specifically for Schools!
Every fundraiser can make a difference. School and classroom adoptions are available for any fundraising amount, making it an accessible way for students to support our falcons and learn about conservation. Email Office@kareareafalcon.org to enquire!
Once your school adopts a falcon, future fundraisers can continue to support that same falcon. Each fundraiser is recognised with a gift box, making it a great way for different classrooms or groups of students to get involved throughout the year.

Our team can bring the adoption box to your classroom or present it during a whole-school assembly, or we can post it to an urban NZ address.
