Come and visit with your class!

Kārearea Kaitiaki Programme

Thanks to the generous sponsorship of Marlborough Lines Ltd, the Kārearea Falcon Trust offers a FREE education programme for Marlborough Year 3, 4, and 5 students.

This unique visit gives ākonga the chance to learn about the kārearea, New Zealand’s last remaining endemic bird of prey, and the importance of protecting our native species.

Students begin with an interactive presentation in our education space, The Nest, before taking a guided walkthrough of our aviary to meet our resident kārearea up close. The session finishes with a short quiz, question time, and a class photo opportunity.

Each student receives a free educational booklet, and teachers are provided with a resource pack including pre- and post-visit classroom activities.

To help your visit run smoothly, please ensure students have had morning tea beforehand and come prepared with warm clothing and closed footwear, as the aviary walkway includes uneven surfaces.

Maximum x30 students per booking slot. For more info email office@kareareafalcon.org or please click the button below to:

Our Centre is located at 327 Brancott Road, Fairhall.

Visits are 11am-12:30pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays during the months: June, July and August.
